Robert Pattinson Tried to Rebrand the "Twilight" Films

The release of the last movie in the Twilight Saga was almost ten years ago. The Twilight films are a bit of an exception, though. Nobody anticipated the first movie to become as successful as it did.

People were intrigued by the romance between the human Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen, nevertheless. Although there was a lot of romance in the movie series, Robert Pattinson never wanted viewers to lose sight of how bizarre the movies actually were.

The "Twilight" films, in Robert Pattinson's opinion, are really strange.

Pattinson has never hidden the fact that he thought the Twilight films were strange. He once remarked that the novel on which the original movie was based, by the same name, read like it shouldn't have been released.

Additionally, he regularly criticised Edward, the character he played, for his odd behaviour. He was always bringing up how the vampire was a murderer. In addition, he questioned why a person over 100 years old would continue be attending high school and dating a teen.

In fact, Pattinson thought the Twilight films were so bizarre that he tried his hardest to rename them whenever he had the chance. He wanted people to understand just how odd they were.

His words and interviews, however, were only insufficient to dissuade people from interpreting them as an epic love story.

Pattinson opened up in an interview with IndieWire on his attempts to alter the films' perception.

I always felt Twilight was kind of odd, to be honest," Pattinson admitted. "Really, it's just the type of marketing that made it popular. If you look at any interview I gave, you'll see that I always pushed the placenta-chewing and every other part I could make offensive to the front.

It's a romantic voyage, it's lovely, but you know you can't compete with one guy versus the entire marketing team saying that. It sounds like, "No, that's repulsive.
