Prince Louis is the name Kate and William choose as a particular homage to the Royal Family

During her first solo public appearance as the new Princess of Wales in Guildford, Kate Middleton recently gave a thorough explanation of how she chose the names for her children.

Kate, 40, spoke extensively about her children when touring the maternity ward at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. She also discussed how she and Prince William came up with their names.

Few people are aware that the Prince and Princess of Wales named their children in the traditional British manner, despite the fact that there was considerable curiosity about the names of royal children like Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Prince Louis Arthur Charles is the name Kate and William have given to their third child. Like their older two children, George and Charlotte, Prince Louis Arthur Charles has many connotations and close ties to the royal family.

As noted by royal analyst Victoria Arbiter, "every new parent loves having a little private time to get to know their new addition before the barrage of announcements," according to The List. However, there is a desire to tell the families before the public proclamation is made.

According to The List, people were already unravelling the significance of the new parents' choice of name before they finally disclosed it.

Like before, Kate and William announced the name of their son on Twitter. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are excited to reveal the name Louis Arthur Charles for their son. His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge will be the baby's name.

The name Louis is a traditional homage to the Duke of Edinburgh's maternal grandfather, Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg, and his uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten.

Like his father William, Prince George, Louis' older brother, also has Louis as a middle name. The name means "famous warrior" and is of Germanic and French origin.
