Coolio, who rose to fame in the 1990s thanks to the smash single Gangsta's Paradise, has been discovered dead in a friend's Los Angeles residence.
"We are deeply grieved by the passing of Coolio, a beloved friend and client, who touched the world with the gift of his skill and will be sadly lost.
Please have Coolio's loved ones in your thoughts and prayers," the American rapper's talent manager, Sheila Finegan, told TMZ.
The 59-year-old, whose true name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., reportedly requested to use the restroom at a friend's home on Wednesday. His companion repeatedly called for Coolio but did not get a response when he did not come out.
Coolio was found on the floor unconscious as he entered to check on the artist. At around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, paramedics were called to the Los Angeles residence and found Coolio dead
No drugs or drug-related items were reportedly discovered at the location of Coolio's death. An official cause of death will be established by an autopsy
and toxicology tests.
