Pakistan loses to England in a warm-up game: T20 WorldCup

England trounced Pakistan by six wickets on Monday in a T20 World Cup 2022 warm-up game in

Brisbane, giving them more confidence going into the tournament.

England managed to complete the 161-run mark in 15 overs despite losing their opening duo who had scored poorly.

The easy dismissals of England's openers, Phil Salt (1) and Alex Hales (9) by Pakistan, were insufficient to put the batting side on the back foot.

Ben Stokes scored 36 runs in 18 balls, including two fours and three sixes. Sam Curran and Harry Brook both made significant contributions, scoring 45 and 33 runs off 24 and 14 balls, respectively, to help England reach the finish line in 14.4 overs.

The best bowler for Pakistan was Mohammad Wasim Jr., who finished with figures of 2-16 in 2.4 overs. Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah each claimed one wicket.

Following a protracted injury absence, star pacer Shaheen Afridi bowled two overs without picking up a wicket while giving up seven runs.

Earlier, despite a better start in the powerplay by the new opening combination of Shan Masood and Haider Ali, Pakistan still managed to score 160-8 in a 19-over warm-up game that was hampered by rain.

In contrast to Pakistan's usual openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Masood and Ali got their team off to a quick start. Against an England bowling lineup that was at full power, the openers scored 49 runs in 4.4 overs.
